Dar Si Hmad for Development, Education and Culture is an independent nonprofit organization founded in 2010 promoting local culture and sustainable initiatives through education and the integration of scientific ingenuity in Southwest Morocco. We operate North Africa's largest fog harvesting project, providing villages with access to potable water. Our Water School and Girls' E-Learning Programs build capacity in the Anti-Atlas Mountains. Through our Ethnographic Field School, researchers and students engage with local communities in Agadir, Sidi Ifni, and the rural Aït Baamrane region for meaningful cross-cultural exchange.

RISE Participants #PledgeforParity

Yesterday, the world celebrated International Women's Day. Dar Si Hmad joined in the festivities, highlighting some of our capacity building programs for women and giving a shout out to our incredible female staff.

In our US MEPI-funded employability training program, RISE, Agadir's young people learned about the significance of 8 March and came together to discuss the importance of gender equality. Reflecting this year's theme for the UN-sponsored Women's Day, RISE participants made their own pledges for and statements about gender parity. We'll be highlighting several of them over the next few days.

Abdellah Eidhaj was introduced on this blog last week with his RISE Profile. Asked about the importance of women in his life and the world, Abdellah declared "No peaceful society without gender equality".

From all the RISE Participants, yesterday, today, and every day - Happy International Women's Day!

We'll be sharing other Pledges for Parity from Morocco's youth over the next few days - stay tuned on social media for the newest from Dar Si Hmad:
